How I Built A 60,000+ Audience While Working Full-Time As An Executive Director.
I used my 9–5 job as a content goldmine

Alongside my 9–5 job & one-person business, I grew to:
- 54,000 Medium Followers.
- 5,000+ LinkedIn Followers.
- 3,800+ Email List Subscribers.
Here’s how I did it.
I used my 9–5 job as a content goldmine
My full-time job is a content asset.
It provides an endless amount of content to write about.
From:
- Winning work with clients.
- Challenges with colleagues.
- Navigating conflicts with business partners.
These make my articles relevant and compelling.
I can incorporate real-world stories and lessons. I can provide the learning to my readers without them needing to experience the scars of learning.
I never run out of ideas.
I can take every business experience (good and bad) and turn it into a diamond for others. Nothing bad happens to a writer, especially when you own a business.
Stop viewing your job as a liability.
Change your mindset to see how you can turn your everyday experiences into content that others would find valuable. You can find your audience via the internet.
Don’t quit. Leverage your 9–5 job for content.
Writing reinforces my learning.
I write to think.
Not the other way around. If I don’t write, I feel like I can’t think. By sitting down every day to write, I can clarify my thoughts. It makes me a better leader and public speaker.
It’s noticeable when someone doesn’t write regularly.
You can see it in how they speak and the clarity of their thinking. It’s just the same if you see someone who doesn’t exercise regularly or watch their diet.
Writing is to the mind what exercise is to the body.
